Today’s report will be written as if it was a boxing match just to remind you all about the event’s of Saturday night.
THERE’S ONLY ONE CARL FROCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On Saturday 18th of May 2013, FC Royal took the fight to Harlev IK at the majestic Viby Gymnasium.
The Royal came into the fight knowing that this team would provide a stern physical test and we should be better than to underestimate them. There was only one change to a familiar looking defense, with Tony Hibbert taking a break from his busy schedule of warming the Everton bench to debut at right back. While in the center of the pitch MC was in to pull the strings, in place of a traveling Helge.
The first round started off at a slow pace with both teams sitting behind there jab and it was already starting to live up to it’s billing of a physical bout. At the start of the second round, FC Royal really started taking a grip of the game, with the experienced TA and MC really rolling with the punches.
However it was one of the young gun’s that landed the first haymaker of the fight, with Philip picking the ball up just inside the opposition’s half, he proceeded to waltz through the opponents defense, only to slot the ball firmly into Harlev’s chin. 1-0 Royal.
This goal really put Harlev on the back foot and Royal proceeded to hit them with heavy blow after heavy blow. Leading with the heavy hits was our defensive rock and captain Rune, who first laid one on for Junker, who showed poise at close range to finish calmly. Then he smashed them with a haymaker of his own, rising highest on a set piece. 3-0 Royal.
At this point Harlev were on the ropes, Ronnie stepped to really land the finishing blows. Two haymakers in quick succession, the best of which was a screamer from outside the area.
Harlev were finally saved by the bell, and went into their corner 5-0 down and with some serious wounds. However the second half of this fight Harlev showed that while they were down they were certainly not out. They managed to establish more of a foothold in the fight and both sides traded punches. Royal were dealt a blow when their haymaker talisman Ronnie had to head for the corner for treatment, only to be replaced by the useless fat scouser Tony Hibbert.
Not soon after Harlev bobbed and weaved through the Royal defense for their first real opening of the fight, only to be denied by Daniel who showed cat like reflex’s, that Floyd “Money” Mayweather would have been proud of. Royal showed they have a solid chin however and fought back with a few half chances near the end of the fight, however couldn’t really land anything substantial.
The fight finished 5-0 to FC Royal, who now goes into their next fight knowing that a win would all but guarantee promotion to the light heavyweight division. The referee should also deserve a mention, as he let both teams play out a physical encounter without too much interference.
Man of the match went to TA, who continues to roll back the year’s and show he really is one of the best Pound of Pound fighters out there.
